Aisling was pissed at him. Piper was pissed at him. But he could only handle one of those at a time, when both of the most important women in his life teamed up on him, Jaxon didn't know an ice out could be so deadly. Aisling returned to her own bed, she barely looked at him, and he was prepared against a falcon attack at any moment. It was waiting for when that talon attack to his eyeballs was going to happen that was driving him crazy. He was never as aware of how many pigeons were in New Orleans until he panicked over every fluttering wing potentially being his angry sister. He left a note on Aisling's pillow where he usually laid next to her when he was there asking her to follow the notes. Little red post it notes that he collected from Miss Morgan's supply closet, he promised that he was going to replace them, each of them decorated with little fireballs. Hopefully would make her smile.
The trail of them led to the wall of graffiti that he did for her. An outline of the two of them kissing, an image of Aisling floating as if in a dream world. He painted it for her and he wanted to try to make things right between them. He messed up on his birthday, but he was sorry about it. He never had a chance to be wild and have fun. His life had and always will be about protecting his siblings. He wanted to do everything to make them happy, but he also wanted to feel normal for once in his life. He went overboard, he knew that. It was why Piper was mad at him, and he was sure that Aisling felt the same way. Both of them were disappointed in him for potentially being taken away again. He had a criminal record and he was only just reunited with his family, it was stupid that he risked keeping them in his life over a mini fridge of Dr. Pepper.
Jaxon waited a block away from the painting, hoping that Aisling would meet him at the end of the trail of post-it notes. He really hoped that she would follow it and give him another chance. He just wanted to make things right between them and he wanted her back in his bed. He was sure that Cam was going to do his own thing to make it up to Aisling, but he was going to do this with her. She meant so much to him and he wanted to make sure that she always remembered it.
He stretched towards the sky to pop out his back and shoulders. He had been up the whole night before working on the piece and he wanted it to be just right for Aisling. She deserved it, and she deserved a grand gesture that would hopefully remind her that he wasn't the guy who was going to steal mini-fridges and get so high he thought he was going to fall off the earth.
He was a criminal for a lot of reasons, but that was a one time thing and Jaxon was going to make sure of it.

Sleeping in her own bed had felt strange. There had been a point in her life when she was grateful to have her own bed, a time when it was the only thing that she felt was truly her own and the idea of giving that up wasn’t fathomable. But then Jaxon had stumbled into her life in need of someone to chase away his nightmares. And, maybe in some fashion, Aisling had needed someone to chase away her own demons. He became a way for her to turn her mind off, a way for her to tune out the rest of the world for a little while and just exist. Things felt easy with Jaxon, far easier than what anything should have ever felt if life had given her any experience to form such opinions. So Aisling went from sleeping in her own bed to sleeping in his. Ash had tried to prevent that from happening for a little while, until he eventually realized they would find a way to do it regardless. It wasn’t like they were actively doing anything other than sleeping, after all. It was just a way to comfort one another through their traumas.
But everything that was easy suddenly shifted slightly to the left. Stolen glances, touches, kisses ignited a fire within Aisling. It was unlike anything that she had ever felt and when Jaxon had asked her to be his girlfriend at Christmas, everything felt right. She hadn’t taken off the moon necklace that he had gifted to her since that day, barring when she showered. Even now, when she was furious with him for being a dumbass, the necklace was still resting against the skin of her chest, tucked away in the shirt that she had chosen for the day. Just because she was mad at him and may have threatened some things that she didn’t mean certainly didn’t mean that she cared about him any less.
She was just frustrated. Her feelings were not solely aimed at Jaxon, but at Cameron Gallagher as well. Both of them were dumb. While Aisling was glad they were friends, she was now starting to think that this friendship wasn’t exactly a good idea. Who decided to get high and attempt to steal a mini-fridge? No matter how much Dr. Pepper they might have been craving, it was one of the more ridiculous ideas that she had ever heard of. The last few days had been spent giving both Cam and Jaxon the silent treatment, avoiding them during meals and returning back to her own bed. Thankfully she wasn’t alone in her feelings towards the boys; Piper Addison Davies agreed that they were dumb boys. Neither of them needed to add more to their histories and Jaxon certainly didn’t need to do something that would tear him away from the family that he had finally been reunited with.
Waking up to a note on her pillow had, for the briefest of moments, made her frustrated all over again. Aisling knew, however, that she would need to address this at some point. She couldn’t just ignore Jaxon forever and it wasn’t a topic that could be brushed under the rug, never to be brought up again. So instead she had gotten ready that morning with a purpose, her eyes scanning the note several times before pocketing it and making her way out of the house. Clues were left on each little note, guiding her to the mysterious destination. Many of the places where the notes had been placed were places that she had spent time with Jaxon, places she had mentioned in passing that he remembered even though there was no substantial conversation about it.
As she walked, her anger seemed to diminish, though it wasn’t something that she was willing to fully let go just yet. There was too much to talk about before she could just somehow manage to move past all of what had happened. Her steps carried her further from Phalanx, the sound of the Quarter drowning out as she followed the trail of notes, coming up to… Tilting her head back slightly to take in the mural that had been painted, brown eyes moved over all of it, taking it in. It was a big, bold gesture, one that was intended to win her over or at least to just make her talk to him again. The brunette sighed quietly and reached into her pocket for her phone, pulling up Jaxon’s number and sending him a text.
Jaxon felt horrible about how things went on his birthday. He felt horrible about how it must have looked when she showed up at the jail with Cam and Jaxon still a little drunk in the holding cell. He knew that it was bad enough for her to leave his room and sleep in her own bed. Jaxon hated to admit it, but her leaving his room was the hardest part of all of this. He missed her nightly and he just wanted his girlfriend back with him. He was falling deeply for Aisling, and he knew that even if he messed up, they would figure it out. This, painting the mural in the dark of night. Making sure that he was able to capture her beauty and her fire in the painting. He spend all of the nights that he couldn't sleep without Aisling on the draft and the actual night spent painting.
Waiting for her to wake up and follow his notes was almost grueling. He thought that being in that holding cell, high as hell and cuffed to Cam was a long sentence, this was worse. He checked his phone, waiting to come out from his hiding spot. There were people walking by, some admiring the art, some who said it looked dumb as shit, he didn't care. So long as Aisling liked it and so long as she accepted his apology and gave him that second chance. He was never going to be the boyfriend who lied to her, or cheated on her. He was never going to break her heart or make her cry. He just knew that there would be many times in this life when he would do something dumb. He would get a terrible idea with Cam that would suddenly seem like the best idea that either of them had.
It could only start with a Dr Pepper mini fridge, but he knew that their collective stupidity could only make for worse fights with Aisling down the line.
He just wanted to show her that he could love her, that he could be the boyfriend who she deserved and maybe, just maybe, that would make all of the stupid decisions that he was sure to do worth the while. When he felt the buzz of his cellphone, he checked the front screen and saw Aisling's name and her message. Come out, come out, wherever you are. He grinned and came from around the back of the building and smiled when he saw her. Damn. He saw as the morning sunshine hit her dirty blonde hair. He saw her beautiful eyes looking over the mural that he painted. He leaned against the wall and grinned at her, hoping that she really liked it. He would do anything for her, and he really hoped that she would not always see the dumb stuff that he did. Growing up the way that he did, he never had a chance to do anything fun and wild. He had to think for his siblings, he had to think as a punching bag. He had to be a rock. With all of the freedom of Phalanx, he knew that there would be so many opportunities to do stupid shit and sharing a room with Cam only increased the odds that someone stupid would happen again.
There wasn't enough paint and walls to save him if he got arrested again. He didn't even want to think about the punishment from Piper if he got arrested again. He would be out for yard time and get attacked by a hawk.
Jaxon grinned at her and looked up at the mural, "Don't worry, no laws were broken in the commission of this piece." It was a free wall owned by the business. He asked around all of New Orleans until he could find one, "You like it?"

Aisling had been someone that learned the best thing to do when she had a problem with someone was simply to ignore it or them until the issue simply resolved itself. There were things that could be easily swept under the rug and forgotten along with the skeletons that called her closet home. So many times she wanted nothing more than to go back to how it had been, to curl up again Jaxon and just forget everything that they had just gone through, but that wasn’t possible. There was too much of a risk involved if he didn’t understand the seriousness of what had happened. As much as she preached about how it wasn’t fair of him to do that when he just been reunited with his family, there was a part of her that knew it was more than that. It wasn’t just about the relationship that he was working on rebuilding with his siblings.
It was about the fact that she didn’t want to lose him. So many people in her life had come and gone, had left her when something better seemingly came along. Aisling’s greatest fear was that Jaxon would be but one in a long line of people that abandoned her by the wayside when things changed. As much as she might have tried to rationalize how that wasn’t the situation, her anxieties managed to get the better of her. It was one stupid movement that could have him stripped away from her and then where would she be? It was a harsh reality that she never wanted to come to fruition, but some things were unavoidable - especially if Jaxon was going to continue doing stupid shit that made her question her sanity.
Still, she couldn’t avoid him forever. She didn’t want to avoid him forever. As much as she might have tried to guard her heart, Aisling knew that Jaxon had already wormed his way in and ignited something within her soul that she had tried to keep buried and out of reach. It was the only way that she knew to protect herself and all of that had been turned upside down by one firestarter. Her eyes continued to roam over the mural as she waited for her boyfriend to step out of whatever shadows he was skulking in. He spoke before she heard him and her eyes scarcely turned in his direction, taking note of the circles around his eyes that indicated many a long night - likely working on this particular piece.
”You can’t just vandalize a wall and expect everything to be okay.” Drawing her bottom lip between her teeth, she considered for a moment before smiling softly. ”It’s beautiful.”
