Happiness - true happiness, that is - had always felt like a far off dream. It was an intangible fantasy and Aisling had spent most of her life accepting that it was a feeling she would never know. How could she feel happiness when her mother had been ripped away from her and when her father took the opportunity to lock her away at the first opportunity he had? Astor finding her had been a blessing and though coming to Phalanx had filled her with a whole new set of concerns, she took solace in the knowledge that they weren't going to try to force her to take pills to sleep, they wouldn’t make her do anything that she didn’t want to do. The most important thing was that they gave her space, trust, an opportunity to find out who she was.
Identity was something that Aisling struggled with and still did to some degree. However, it was impossible not to notice that the drastic difference in her entire personality had to do with the boy that she had fallen hopelessly in love with. Jaxon Kane Davies had been just as broken as she was, riddled with the same trust issues, yet they had taken to one another almost instantly that night on the porch. She felt like she had known him all of her life and that was the reason that she had been comfortable crawling into bed with him that night. Though the simple act of curling up together and sleeping may have seemed minute to many, it was something that meant everything to the two of them. She had never felt more high than when she was with him. In the months that followed, they found themselves closer to one another and their relationship only proved to grow stronger when his siblings found their way to Phalanx.
In a turn of events from their typical, Jaxon and Aisling had made the decision to go on a date in the city, where one of the numerous city festivals was taking place. In addition to the various sounds and sights, there was a plethora of street vendors and food trucks set up. Walking down the street, Aisling stabbed her fork into her poutine, shoving the cheese and gravy coated fry into her mouth as she looked over at her boyfriend, turning to face him so that she was walking backward, only occasionally glancing over her shoulder to make sure she didn’t crash into anyone. ”I think we need to come back tomorrow with the rest of the family,” she offered, meaning his siblings. She wasn’t sure if it was something that they would actually want to do, but the food alone was worth the experience. Aisling had come to adore his family since their arrival into her life and she wanted nothing more than to share positive experiences with them - even more so when she saw how happy it made Jaxon.
