Things within the Davies family had never been better for Jaxon, but they also could not have been any worse. They were all under the same roof, an absolute win. They were all safe, they weren't explaining away bruises or broken bones any more. There were no disgusting foster fathers with wandering eyes and roaming hands. They were together. Jaxon wanted to hold onto the goodness of all of that. He wanted that to be all that he had to think about. No more getting the life beat out of himself on the daily, just to make sure that they didn't get it as badly. He wanted it to be just good, but it wasn't. Their family was struggling and it was because of Jaxon.
Because he had to be the fucking Fire King of New Orleans.
The blond pyro did not regret much in his life, but getting so drunk and high that he would risk going back to jail was high on that short list. He finally had his siblings back and he didn't want to do anything to risk that. Aisling was working on forgiving him, he was spending a lot less nights lonely in his bed, but Piper was a harder nut to crack. He just wanted his sister back to talking to him how they did. When they could talk about anything and the other would just understand.
He got that he messed up, that was clear. He went from being able to protect all of them without a problem to the family screw up the second he set that first house on fire. He knew that without hesitation, but there were ways to fix that. He was going to do it. Even if it was a little unorthodox.
With a plate of brownies, specially made by Sirius Perona, and a DVD box set Jaxon called for Piper to come to the living room from the bottom of the stairs. He was pretty sure that most of the younger hooligans were off doing whatever it was that they did and they could have the living room television to themselves.
"Pipes, I wanna show you something, c'mere!" He called again, setting the brownies on the coffee table and the first disc into the DVD player that looked like it had seen much better days. He was going to show her that he was able to be a good big brother again, he was going to show her that things between them could be better and he wasn't going to keep doing stupid stuff to get arrested. He was working, saving money, and all of it was for them. No matter what would ever happen to them as a family, Jaxon was going to be there. No more jail. No more burning down houses to get what he wanted. He was going to show Piper that he could do better.
