elodie scarlett kessler
the basics
full name ♦ Elodie Scarlett Kessler nicknames ♦ Ellie, Ell age ♦ 18 birthday ♦ November 16th, 2000 occupation ♦ Employee at The Sound Garden school ♦ homeschooled species ♦ skinwalker ability/power ♦ skinwalker how the ability works ♦ Elodie has been practicing working with her ability from the time she was a child. Growing up in a family of skinwalkers like her made the process easier and allowed her to anticipate what to expect. Ellie has found that it is easiest for her to take the form of people that are similar to her in stature and the side effects that she experiences are typically minimal with these people. For others, Ellie often finds that she needs to concentrate for a short period of time in order to maintain the features of the person that she is mimicking before being able to freely move around in their skin. Additional concentration and searching within allows her to tap into some of the surface memories of a person, including skills that they might possess.
Excessive time spent looking like someone else wears on her both physically and mentally. Shifting back can often plague her mind as some of the memories she managed to tap into from the person she appeared as blend with her own. Additionally, sometimes her mind causes her to see the face of a person she recently appeared as in spite of the fact that she certainly looks like herself again. This often causes her to isolate herself until her mind has settled back down to what she knows to be reality. Physically, the experience leaves her tired and it wouldn’t be unheard of for her to sleep for more than half of a day in order to recover the spent energy.
gender ♦ female ; she/her sexuality ♦ heteroexual
the appearance
face claim ♦ Taylor Momsen height and weight ♦ 5’8 ; 122 lbs identifying features ♦ Elodie has a scar along her forearm from where she was burned on a stovetop. She has her belly button and both of her ears pierced, though the left has considerably more piercings along the outside. Ellie also has a small star tattoo on the left side of her torso along her bra-line and four Xs along her wrist. overall appearance ♦ Elodie stands above average at five feet and eight inches, though this height is often added onto with a pair of platform boots that she’s hard pressed to separate herself from. When those aren’t her choice of footwear, she opts for the comfortable sneakers that, admittedly, don’t make her ass look as good as the boots. Blonde hair frames her face and her blue eyes almost seem to look through a person instead of at them. Lengthy and lanky limbs seem a little disproportionate to the rest of her body, but Ellie has learned to adapt and doesn’t take offense to the comments that people might make.
Her style isn’t particularly set as she enjoys wearing what is comfortable and what looks good. This can range from a pair of short shorts and a tank to a ripped up t-shirt and equally torn jeans; as long as she likes it, nothing is off limits. Dressing up isn’t something that she’s particularly keen on, though will do it if the need for such a thing arises.
the personality

weaknesses ♦ Reckless Unapologetic Insecure

fears ♦ Elodie fears being taken advantage of.
overall personality ♦ Elodie has a very harsh view of the world. She has grown up in a way where everything that she ever wanted, she had to work her ass off for. Nothing was ever handed to her and that makes her extremely critical of those who have an easy life. Her tolerance for ignorance is at an all time low and it isn’t unusual for her call someone out on their bullshit, especially when they’re trying to shove something down her throat. Ellie has found that it’s easier to keep her distance from people instead of trying to get close to them because she’s constantly been fucked over, which has challenged not only her trust in people, but her confidence as well. In spite of a carefree attitude, she actually cares a whole fucking lot and is just really good at faking it.
Ellie has difficulty asking for help in all aspects of her life because she doesn’t ever want to be indebted to someone. There is also the fact that she feels like if she asks someone for help, that person will just make things even worse than what they already are. Though Elodie is outwardly unapologetic about who she is as a person and the things that she does, she is actually rather self-critical and insecure. These feelings often manifest in pushing others away in attempt to shield herself from having to deal with the consequences of getting hurt. Because of this, she isn’t afraid to throw someone under the bus if it means getting herself out of a situation that she’s wound up in.

Creedence Clearwater Revival Your earliest memory involves a smokey room and a record player, the bluesy voice of John Fogerty coming through an old, golden horn. There’s a bad moon on the rise... It would become the mantra of your life, but you didn’t know it yet. Your life would be riddled with earthquakes, lightning, and hurricanes. But for the moment you were just a child. You were a child with wide blue eyes and a clear view of your parents who were letting you and your siblings have candy for dinner for the third day in a row. You weren't tired of candy; no matter how much your belly might have ached from the amount of sugar, you were never tired of having candy for meals. You didn’t realize the mess of needles and powdered substances around them were anything to be concerned about.
Queen You found yourself yearning for a life beyond the walls that you grew up in. Your face changed, morphing until you didn’t recognize yourself. Blonde hair became red, blue eyes turned green, and pale skin darkened into an olive tone. The face in the mirror was not your own. You would have been frightened if this hadn’t happened to the rest of your family. You were a skinwalker, able to change your appearance into that of another at will - but this was not your desire. You had no control. It was something that you were going to have to learn, but your parents didn’t want you to worry about it. They didn’t want you to change your appearance because it would be harder for them to keep track of you. You were yearning to find a way to break free and you might have finally found it.
Soundgarden You were feeling trapped. Your parents didn’t care about you. You were always forced to take care of yourself, forced to uphold the standards of a home that your parents obviously didn’t care to do themselves. When you talked back, you were punished. The most severe being a burn along your forearm from a the stove top where your father held you until you screamed so loud and sobbed so hard that he knew his message had been clear. You stopped talking back, but you found other ways to show your discontentment with the situation. The lines along your arms wept red, but it became your release. Your mind whispered cruel things to you, things that you never thought would become something you practiced. So kill your health and kill yourself.
David Bowie You were sixteen when you ran away. It had all become too much for you, and your siblings had already moved on. You were alone in a chaotic household with parents who saw no value in you outside of picking up after them. They had always done the bare minimum to ensure that you were taken care of, but their doped up lifestyle was something that you knew was brewing toxicity. Your own life was falling to pieces and you did the only thing you could do. You packed your life into a single suitcase, stole some money, and took a bus as far as you could. You were walking a million dead-end streets, but you were free.
Green Day You struggled when you arrived in Baton Rouge. Many of your nights were restlessly spent on a park bench or laying in the grass beneath the stars. You felt broken, but you were unwilling to give up. You didn’t know where to go from there, but you weren't going to simply settle in an alleyway and resign yourself to an unfortunate fate. Your determination paid off when you met a woman in a Green Day t-shirt and bonded over your shared love of music - and your delight when she mentioned that she owned a shop in New Orleans. She insisted that you check it out and soon enough you were in the passenger seat of a 1959 Cadillac Eldorado in Aztec Red. You talked about your life during that hour and a half drive to the Big Easy. Your arrival saw you with a job offer and the offer of a place to stay. You were leery of such a magnanimous offer, but accepted. It was then that you started your job at The Sound Garden, surrounding by vinyl records older than you were. It has been two years since your arrival in New Orleans and your ability and confidence have grown, but your attitude remains the same. You take no shit from anyone and stand on your own two feet. 'Cause I'm still breathing on my own. My head's above the rain and roses.
