Ash looked over his paperwork, there was so much to do. His dad had gotten sick on New Years Eve, making him miss his own party. Thankfully Hector was feeling better and he was back at Phalanx House. The turn of the new year went without event, Carver and Eppie holding down the fort with all of the other teachers and recruiters. He checked in with his siblings, letting them both know that he was a stubborn old man and he was doing okay. Hector didn't want the younger kids to worry and it was already like pulling teeth to get Hector to do anything good for him. He loved his dad but he knew that he was going to stubborn himself into the grave.
It was like looking into a mirror sometimes and it was almost chilling to think of how much he was like his stubborn ass of a dad.
He looked over some of the files, seeing a new name come up. Elias Matthews. Probably another kid who needed a home. Ash opened the file and started to look through it, first surprised that Elias was a woman and then also surprised that she was an adult struggling with her abilities. Most of the time adults gained their control in their early adulthood, mostly through study or hospitalization. He started to dial the number before he saw the note not to call. He set the phone down and read it more throughly. When she came in to get a lesson, she made it very clear that she was doing this behind her husband's back. He saw in the notes that she could accept text messages, but to keep it brief. He sent a text that the books she ordered would be available at noon and that she could pick them up whenever. Hopefully she was smart enough to understand what was happening. He would help her in any way that he could, and hoped that she would feel safe enough to show.
Watching the clock, he waited to see if she was going to show up.
