Dakota liked his family enough but he could definitely like them from a distance. He wasn't the best at keeping in contact and tended to steer clear of sending texts to check in unless he needed something. He was doing fine. He had a place to live and he had grown fond of its familiarity.
Every once in a while, however, an invitation got him back to his siblings. It was rarely his own idea but he didn't generally mind going out to see them, especially if there was alcohol involved. He walked into the Gorgon's Head, shooting Kohana and Winona a text informing him that he had arrived and waiting patiently for someone to get his attention.
"Hey," he greeted them with a nod of his head, tucking a long strand of hair behind his ear. He smirked and put an arm around Kohana's shoulder. "My brother," he exclaimed more dramatically than necessary, turning toward Win. "Your idea, your treat, right?" he asked, though he didn't actually expect to make her pay. He could be an ass, but that didn't apply so much when it came to his sister.
"I need food-- I'm fucking starving. A network crashed at Monroeville and they had me at it all day. Someone's fucking around with wires in that place."
Overall he didn't mind the internship at Monroeville but occasionally he had a bone to pick when it came to the availability for food there... or... the availability for actual, not terrible food.
”You want to go out tonight?” Kohana had asked Winona after she extended her invitation, slowly, as if perhaps her real question had been lost in translation somewhere. ”Who are you and what have you done with my sister?”
For people who worked in the same building, the two of them actually didn’t see much of each other on a day to day basis, a fact Win was probably glad for by the time the their car pulled up to the Gorgon’s Head.
”It’s not his birthday or anything, is it?” he asked, sipping his drink. It was the kind of thing he could have forgotten. They had a lot of brothers and sometimes when they got annoying they all just blended into one person. He continued throwing out guesses as to his sister’s motives up until Dakota arrived.
”My brother.””Little Kota,” he said, in the same falsely enthusiastic voice. ”It’s been too long. You look good. A little morbid, but good.” It was fine— he had a goth phase too.
He smirked when his brother explained that a day at Monroeville had prevented him from eating. ”Let me guess, their food is crap? You’d think hospitals could afford more than freeze dried mystery meat but apparently no.” He got not caring about the residents' happiness but there was no reason to make staff suffer.
