tahlia lior david
the basics
full name ♦ Tahlia Lior David nicknames ♦ Lia age ♦ 33 birthday ♦ February 14th, 1985 occupation ♦ Board Member for Monroeville ; independently wealthy school ♦ N/A species ♦ Human ability/power ♦ Poison Generation how the ability works ♦ Tahlia is able to produce poison in all forms, including toxins and venoms. Years of practice have allowed for her to harness this ability in a variety of ways, from secretion from her bite or as simple as generating the poison as a miasma that can present itself from her breath or simply emitting from her skin. This is the preferred method because it’s not as likely to draw attention as an obvious bite or other injury. Prolonged use of her ability has been known to make her violently ill. This method of her ability can be worn thin and requires anywhere from a few hours to a few days to recover the amount of poison that she put it out into the world, leaving her somewhat vulnerable in the meantime. While this form is something that she can essentially turn on or off, there is another thing that she can’t turn off.
Tahlia’s blood is poisonous and is constantly active. Injuries to her person that lead to her actively bleeding result in a potential life-threatening situation for anyone that finds themselves around her. This aspect of her ability isn’t something that necessarily takes anything out of her because it isn’t something that she has any control over. However, too much blood loss is something that even someone with her ability can’t come back from. While a normal blood transfusion works for her, it has to be a universal donor and her body takes time to convert the new blood into the poison that already courses through her veins - which would end up with her being hospitalized for a longer than average time.
gender ♦ Female sexuality ♦ Heterosexual
the appearance
face claim ♦ Gal Gadot height and weight ♦ 5’10 & 130lbs identifying features ♦ Tahlia has her ears pierced. overall appearance ♦ Tall and built athletically, Tahlia is someone who walks into a room and commands confidence, not because of her striking appearance, but because of how she holds her head high. There is very rarely a day when Lia would be seen “slumming it”; she prefers to dress herself in clothes that fit to her body, whether dresses or something a little more professional. There is rarely a set style when it comes to her hair as Tahlia has found comfort in displaying her hair in a variety of ways, though she prefers to allow it down to have some room to breathe. Tahlia has no tattoos to speak of, but her body does of a smattering of freckles here and there and the only modifications that she has made are to get her earlobes and cartilage pierced.
the personality
likes ♦ Working out Visiting home Maintaining order Being in a position of power Israeli dishes Sparring
dislikes ♦ Being told what to do Discord not caused by her Being wrong Cilantro - it tastes like soap Being ignored The cold
strengths ♦ Intelligent Confident Resilient
weaknesses ♦ Stubborn Prideful Arrogant
dreams ♦ To have the world fall at her feet and leave a name people will remember. fears ♦ Losing her ability ; being betrayed
overall personality ♦ Upon first meeting Tahlia, people assume that she has all of the beauty and little to none of the brains. However, she is extremely intelligent and uses that intellect to find the answers to the things that others may have long since given up on. Tahlia is driven by a steely determination, which not only aides her in finding the answers to those particular questions, but it makes her someone to watch out for. This makes her a valuable asset in regards to a number of things throughout the world. The things that she sets her mind to are not often left unaccomplished and are typically as a result of someone else not getting their job done when they were meant to. Rest assured that incompetence is something that Tahlia deals with swiftly and without a trace.
A silver tongue has allowed her to convince people to tell her things that they might not tell others. While she prefers using force to resolve issues that might come her way, she knows how to verbally negotiate and make herself look much less threatening than she is. That in itself makes her a dangerous enemy to have working against you. Her ability to deceive people is higher than most and that makes it almost easy for her to do it, without having a tell. These lies act as a second skin in order to protect herself and those she aligns her with from anyone that might wish to do them harm. That being said, Tahlia is an extremely hard worker and dedicated the things that she deems to be worthy of her attention. She is the type of person who has difficulty staying still for long periods of time and instead keeps herself busy as much as possible.
Tahlia is full of secrets and a forbidden knowledge that begs the question of where her allegiance truly lies - but make no mistake. She thrives on knowledge and isn’t afraid to use unsavory means to reach a delectable end.
the history
father ♦ Amir David, 57, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Liaison mother ♦ Miriam David [nee Cohen], 53, bank teller siblings ♦ ___ David, 29, sister ___ David, 27, brother important people ♦ Various other family members hometown ♦ Jaffa, Israel overall history ♦ trigger warning (murder, mental instability)
Tahlia was born to parents of very modest means in the port city of Jaffa, Israel. Amir and Miriam David did not start out wealthy when their eldest daughter was born; in fact, they were struggling on the single salary that Amir was bringing in as a judge in the military courts while Miriam remained at home with their daughter. As the first born, Tahlia was doted upon by her parents as much as possible. While there were often things that she wanted and couldn’t have because of their financial situation, Tahlia had the things that were necessary in order to survive and have an otherwise fruitful life. As time went on and the economic environment of the country improved, so too did the things that Amir was able to provide for his family. While he continued his financial support, leaving his more traditional wife to do much of the homemaking, Amir took comfort in knowing that he was able to provide his family with the life that they deserved.
Tahlia was five when her sister was born and excitement was an understatement. Growing up in a close-knit family that consisted of grandparents, aunts and uncles, and cousins meant that having a larger family was something that was not only expected, but looked forward to. Miriam and Amir had been trying to have another child for the last two years and had finally been successful in the conception of a second child. Tahlia took to her sister like a fish to water, and though she was only five, she was a big help to her mother while her father was at work. This was something that she carried with her throughout the birth of her brother two years later. Having siblings was like having friends without ever having to leave the house and, as the three of them grew together, so too did Tahlia’s personality. Though she was still kind to them, she became bossy, attempting to take charge even when her parents were present. It was something that was frowned upon and something she wound up punished for more times than she would care to revisit.
It wasn’t until the eldest David child was fourteen that her ability manifested. It was considered to be late and, though she knew her parents had abilities, she had accepted the fact that she would be without. Surprise would not have been a strong enough word when, while hopping over a fence with some friends, Tahlia cut herself. Though it seemed minor, the blood drops on the ground indicated another story as the foliage seemed to sizzle and die. When she should have been fearful, Tahlia only felt power and a light in her soul that had been waning for far too long. A hospital that specialized in those with abilities ran numerous tests on her, attempting to figure out just which power she had been gifted with. It was a blood test that would reveal the truth - poison generation. The substance ran thick through her bloodstream in amounts that should have killed her, but they remained dormant unless exposed to the air.
After learning this, Tahlia’s parents sought out a tutor for her; they were fearful for their daughter and knowing that her ability could make her a great danger to the entire world. It was important that she learned to gain control before she hurt herself or someone else. Heartbroken at the fact that her parents were sending her away, Tahlia put her all into the lessons that she was being taught. Early mornings became nothing to her and hours wasted attempting to figure out what she was able to do seemed to go by in a blur. Her mentor, a man by the name of Daniel, not only possessed an ability, but happened to be a scientist. Through him, she was able to learn the difference poisons that she was able to generate, toxins that were known to be deadly to even the largest of elephants. Knowing how her ability would be an asset to have, Daniel convinced Tahlia to stay with him even after he felt that she knew enough to be on her way. Feeling appreciated by someone for an ability that seemed to be so terrifying, she remained with him until she was nineteen, at which time she left for the conscription.
During her time in the Israeli military, Tahlia worked as a combat instructor, but did see days on the field as well. Though much of her training involved physical combat, once the higher ups learned of her ability, they saw ways to put it to good use. Tahlia voluntarily offered a small variety of poisons to her superiors, aiding them in ways that they had previously not considered possible. In addition, her time in the field allowed her to injury and kill many of the opposing forces in order to give her own people a better chance. Tahlia remained with the military for the mandatory two year period, doing as much as she could to help her people, before setting her sights elsewhere.
At the age of twenty-two, Tahlia returned home briefly, where her father had established himself as a liaison for Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Israel. While there, she spoke with him about a desire to be abroad and to make a difference in the world - though what kind of difference was not specified. Realizing how important this was for his daughter, Amir financed her visa to the United States and got her into Regis College in Massachusetts. The majority of her education was paid for by her father and Tahlia’s grades saw themselves higher than normal. In learning how to help people, Tahlia learned the things that would be necessary in order to carefully dissect them and make them vulnerable to the ideations that manifested in her mind. Over the course of the next six years, Tahlia focused on her education and what many would perceive to be the betterment of those around her or that she took care of.
Of course they didn’t realize that when some of her co-workers disappeared, it was because of the things that she had done. They didn’t realize that it was an injection of poison into their bloodstreams or directly into the heart that had them never coming back to work. Tahlia was smart enough not to keep a collection and many of the bodies found themselves incinerated, courtesy of one of her friends who operated a crematorium. No one would have been any wiser to the things that they were doing. After graduating from her nurse practitioner program at the age of twenty-nine, Tahlia made the move from Massachusetts to a place much further south, where she heard whispers of a supernatural community and a hospital that could have used someone like her - or so she felt.
Tahlia spent a year working at Monroeville Hospital before using a combination of her own earnings as well as the access she had to her father’s bank account to purchase a share of the hospital, allowing her a seat on the Board of Directors. Though she wasn’t a majority shareholder, Tahlia took great comfort in knowing that Doctor Blackthorn had everything in good hands. He was someone that shared a similar taste for science and learning things as she did and in his pursuit of knowledge, Tahlia found herself aiding him wherever she could, regardless of how it may have been deemed as malpractice. She wanted to make a difference in the world and it was through Monroeville that she would see those dreams become a reality.
