full name ♦ Dakota Chotke nicknames ♦ Kota age ♦ twenty two birthday ♦ August 11th, 1996 occupation ♦ student, tech support at a computer store, Intern for Tech Services at Monroeville school ♦ Primrose species ♦ human ability/power ♦ Hyperkinetic how the ability works ♦
Kota basically has perfect hand-eye coordination. Or... he did... before he lost his sight. The ability allowed him to look at a target across the room and throw any object to hit the target perfectly, taking into account factors such as interception and friction. He could get a ball to bounce off a wall and land perfectly. Just to clarify, I'll quote Wikia for a second:
"Hyperkinetics possess flawless aim, perfect balance, greatly enhanced motor skills, and perfect synchronization between thought and action."
He has enhanced agility and the potential to have extraordinary depth perception. I say potential because his recent blindness has forced him to relearn how to navigate his surroundings. He has not yet gotten back to perfect, but practice and determination have gotten his skill back to superhuman level. He has an incredible spacial memory and can perfectly navigate familiar places. In a familiar room, he can aim perfectly. In a new area, however, he would need time to explore the space before he'd be able to put his ability to good use.
Hyperkinetics also have enhanced reflexes. They will often respond to a situation without thought, playing into their impulsive personalities.
The biggest disadvantage of using this ability is vertigo. Kota can hone in on his skill for several minutes before it has any negative effect, but after too long his body begins to become a bit disoriented, causing him to feel dizzy and lightheaded. This feeling of motion sickness has worsened with his blindness since he now has to take more time to regain his bearings.

overall personality ♦
Kota has always been outgoing, confident, and hotheaded. He isn't afraid to try crazy things, which often gets him into trouble. He is incredibly loyal to those who've earned his respect, though his respect is far from free. He was raised to value family and tries to maintain a close relationship with his siblings and cousins... whether or not they get along.
Getting on his bad side is not difficult to do and is nearly impossible to rectify. He is incredibly stubborn and will hold grudges. He can also be very sly and manipulative and has been known to smile through gritted teeth, assuring someone that all is well between them before silently planning their demise.
He's a bit of an adrenaline junkie and will try pretty much anything once.
You've always hated this game. You always lose. You put a finger down as the memory resurfaces. You'd been caught driving with a blood alcohol content of .11%. It was stupid, you think, because no one would have figured it out if your brake lights hadn't been out. You'd planned on getting new ones the following day. It was always a common theme in your life to get bailed out of trouble with your father's money. This was no exception.
"Never have I ever fucked in a library."
You laugh as this finger goes down. It had been behind the reference shelf and when the librarian caught you she'd been appalled-- like she was witnessing the real-time conception of Lucifer. When it came to fucking, there wasn't much you hadn't done. Sexual intercourse means little to you. It carries no emotional weight.
"Never have I ever tripped on Salvia."
Fuck. That stuff brought you the best and worst experience of your life. The vivid trip got you to feel something, which was incredible. That something, though... it was excruciating dissociation. It was sitting in a supermarket, a raspberry, waiting to be purchased. It was being thrown into a blender and feeling your body being ripped and ground. It was four minutes that had felt like months. You emerged disoriented and anxious. You have tried most drugs at least once, and nothing was comparable to Salvia. Heroin has never made you feel such pain and your tolerance for its euphoria is higher now than it has ever been.
"Never have I ever crashed a car."
You ask for clarification, receiving confirmation that it does not count if you were not the driver. You have been in a car accident-- an unsurprising piece of information considering your friends are more often under the influence of something than not. It hadn't been your fault, but you had been greeted with a beating from your father when you came home from the hospital. You'd escaped the crash with a minor concussion and some bruises. You climbed the stairs to your room with a broken nose and jaw.
"Never have I ever bought two cars in one day."
That one was aimed at you. You smirk. "Like you shits spend your parents' money more wisely," you rebuttal, defending yourself. You want to laugh it off, the ridiculously irresponsible display of financial recklessness, but in the back of your mind all you can do is think about how you can no longer drive. You no longer have that privilege, that representation of independence. You can't see, and nothing will ever change that.
"Never have I ever felt guilty."
This one is your turn, and it's a lie. The thing is, you don't remember feeling guilt your entire life up until four years ago. You have done so much to cause others grief and you've always been able to justify it. Four years ago, though, that changed. Four years ago, you tried to rape Sophie de la Cruz . Of course, you would have preferred her consent, but she didn't give it and that didn't stop you. Needless to say, eighteen years of apathy had not prepared you for regret. Some people say that people change after this sort of thing happens... that they go through some epiphany and emerge a better man with stronger morals. That isn't you. You haven't changed. You're still reckless and impulsive and apathetic. You still hate that girl for blinding you-- for ruining your life. But something-- more than being absolutely desperate to see again-- makes you wish that you had never invited her into your room.
"Never have I ever moved-- before Primrose. This doesn't count."
You lose another finger. You grew up in a Sioux reservation in Nebraska. When your sister turned thirteen, she began showing signs of superhuman ability. Your family had always been well off as far as money was concerned and so you were relocated to Louisianna, the home of one of the best-known schools in the country for... people like you. You didn't know you were one of them at the time but slowly your siblings blossomed and were enrolled into Primrose when they reached the appropriate age.
"Never have I ever scaled the side of a building."
You smirk again, knowing that this one was meant for you as well. Like your siblings, you eventually started noticing some things... the way you could aim perfectly no matter what you were doing. Your senses were always completely in sync and you could predict the movement of an object with little to no thought instantaneously.
"Never have I ever been diagnosed with a mental disorder."
"Fuck you," you mutter with a roll of your eyes. You were diagnosed on your eighteenth birthday but everyone pretty much knew it was there long before then. You are self-destructive and you always have been. You don't think before making decisions. You don't develop strong relationships with people as quickly or as easily as others do. You've always felt a sort of disconnect between you and the rest of the world. You've always felt alone. You've never understood why your siblings can be so close and despite your efforts, you've always found yourself distancing from them.
"Never have I ever spoken another language."
English was your first language, but you were exposed to a lot of Teton Sioux as a kid. Your parents speak much more of it than you and your siblings do but you can understand a great deal of it. You've always been proud of this. Your culture has always brought you a sense of belonging that you have not been able to find elsewhere.
