EZRA JOHN DAVIES
the basics
full name ♦ Ezra John Davies nicknames ♦ "E" or Ez, nothing fancy age ♦ seventeen birthday ♦ December 8th, 2001 occupation ♦ n/a school ♦ Phalanx species ♦ human ability/power ♦ electric manipulation how the ability works ♦ Ezra can control and conduct electricity. At this time, he does not have much control over it, so it's more uncomfortable than anything. Coming into contact with water brings about a tingling pain across his body, most of the charge coming to his fingertips. With time, I imagine he will feel energized when around electricity, playing with things like broken wires and conductors. He can only handle so many volts at a time, and has burned himself trying to take on more than he can handle. Messing around too much with it gives him headaches that can be pretty incapacitating. gender ♦ cis-male sexuality ♦ heterosexual
the appearance
face claim ♦ ross lynch height and weight ♦ 6'1", 130 lbs identifying features ♦ a scar on his forearm from an accidental self-inflicted burn overall appearance ♦
Ezra is a bit lanky, often carrying dark circles under his eyes. His hair is brown, though he's dyed it blond several times. He is not very approachable, often tense and wearing a hard expression on his face.
the personality
likes ♦ energy drinks, storms, reading fantasy books, sleeping late, his siblings, getting one-on-one time with friends (rather than a large group) dislikes ♦ anything with a sweet flavor, being submerged in water (hates swimming, takes quick showers), being nagged, being touched (his siblings are an exception) strengths ♦ strong-willed, resilient, loving weaknesses ♦ callous, stubborn, temperamental dreams ♦ to get his siblings out of foster care, to find Jaxon fears ♦ being taken to another foster home overall personality ♦
Ezra is sardonic, pessimistic, and harsh. He does have a softer side reserved for a very select group of people, but he generally has a hard time building strong relationships. He believes everyone is out to get him, and one must prove otherwise before he'll give much. He's irritated by a lot of small sounds, like the sound of someone chewing, or sniffling, or even the way someone breathes sometimes. He's very attentive and alert most of the time and he's not quick to trust anyone.
On the other (more positive) hand, Ezra is incredibly protective and caring. If you're lucky enough to get through his solid exterior, you'll have one of the best friends you'll ever meet. He's usually introverted, preferring to avoid large groups of people. However, he's far from quiet when he's comfortable. In fact, sometimes his wild side gets him into trouble.
the history
father ♦ unknown mother ♦ Adelaide Davies, 36, sex worker siblings ♦ Jaxon Kane Davies . ______ _____ 19, half-sister. ___ ___ Davies, 16, half-brother. important people ♦ probably soon Astor Oliver Perona hometown ♦ Seattle, Washington overall history ♦
trigger warning for abuse and mention of depression:
Your tears are hot as they run down your young face. You draw your knees in and shake as the sound of crashing and screaming echoes through the halls. A locked door separates you from the violence, Jaxon absorbing the anger so that you and your siblings don't have to. You can't even communicate your thoughts into coherent sentences yet but sitting quietly on the cold, tile floor is something that you've learned to do quite well.
Tears indicate that you care, and over time they dissipate. Over time, you realize that it wasn't just one bad home. The cycle repeats in the new place, and the one after that, and the one after that. You wonder why life is like this. You don't even realize that this isn't okay, that it isn't normal. For you, not caring is necessary for survival.
Although no matter how much you try, you cannot stop caring for your siblings. They have provided light for you for longer than you can remember. You try to be like Jax, to protect them when you can. You often feel that you're not doing enough, but the reality of the situation is that there's nothing else you can do. You are a scrawny child, often hungry and overtired.
You spend your school days daydreaming about something like this to happen, about that terrible place where you live being burnt down. Never had you actually expected something like this to happen, but one day you're, once again, relocated. You would be almost happy about it if it didn't mean losing your brother, your protector. Jaxon is taken from you and you spend the night in hysteria.
And so it is easy to brush it off the first couple of times. You think that maybe you're just tired, or crazy, when taking a shower makes your body jolt. Until one day it brings you to your knees as sparks erupt from your fingers. Your first response to this experience is fear, enough of it to render you immobilized on the shower floor for several minutes. Your second response is relief-- you have a way to fight back.
Jaxon being gone triggers a shift in abuse. He is no longer there to take the brunt of the blows. You find yourself covered in dark bruises and your body aches. Your mind screams in protest but your tense body takes the hits. One day, an involuntary shock strikes back, acting in your defense as your foster mother is knocked back by the force. You return to your initial state of fear. You cannot feel relief in this moment, so you run.
You have yet to find Phalanx and you are scared out of your mind.
