lilith grace taylor
the basics
full name ♦ Lilith Grace Taylor nicknames ♦ Lily age ♦ Eighteen birthday ♦ October 31st, 2000 occupation ♦ Unemployed school ♦ Monroeville Hospital species ♦ Human ability/power ♦ Reanimation how the ability works ♦ Lilith has the ability of reanimation, meaning that she is able to animate deceased creatures and bend them to her will. This is not the same as bringing them back to life for they are still dead at the end of the day. Under her control, Lily is able to make these deceased individuals move and react. The majority of the beings that she has reanimated are mindless, capable only of doing what she wills them to do. This means that if she isn’t paying attention, they can easily turn on her in the way one imagines that zombie might. Some of them are a little more sentient and Lily almost seems to build a connection with them, which makes it difficult when they inevitably collapse. While under her control, these reanimated beings can act as normal as they might have while they were alive or display behaviors that are notably out of place. The more recently they have been deceased, the more they display their old personality.
The amount of people that Lily is able to control at one time is limited by their size and mass. For example, she can control more children than she can adults because kids are smaller and easier to understand. That being said, reanimating animals is much easier because they seem to be far less complex than humans. She has never been able to successfully reanimate someone that has been dead for more than a few months and attempts at doing it have resulted unfavorable - with them turning on her or falling apart completely. Additionally, the control that she has is extremely limited, both in range and time frame. She cannot control someone that is more than one hundred yards from her and the further away they are, the more difficult it is to control them. She is best able to reanimate at night, her creations lasting upwards of five hours, but the daylight hours are much more difficult, with her being lucky to animate someone for an hour.
The cost of reanimation on her is often a state of fatigue and an inability to use her ability, sometimes for days on end depending on the amount of exertion. The more she exerts herself in an attempt to raise someone, the more likely it is that she will lose consciousness and thus lose control of the person, causing them to collapse back to a very dead state. Losing control of her skill is something that, over time, could easily kill her because of the mental and and physical strain that it puts on her body. A loss of control can mean that her creations can turn on her if she doesn’t break herself off from them before they get the chance. An additional side effect of her abilities is horrible nightmares that often cause her to need to be restrained for the safety of herself and others.

Her hair is typically a shocking pink, though her dark roots occasionally sprout out when it goes too long without being maintained. She’s expressive through her clothes, which range from being as vibrant as her hair to more dark like the ability she possesses. It’s all about how she feels on a particular day. In spite of her housing situation, Lily is someone who likes to look her best when she leaves her room. She often speaks in a soft, yet curious tone, especially when interacting with other patients at Monroeville. Behind her blue eyes seems to be the stillness of someone who has seen far more than what they’re actually willing to say.

overall personality ♦ Lilith is someone who happens to be full of life, which is ironic considering that her ability has to do with death. She has an outgoing personality, which makes her easy to get along with - but it’s hard to miss the fact that there’s something not entirely there within her mind. She spends a lot of time by herself, but is always willing to strike up a conversation with those who might be in need of a friend. Lily fancies herself as someone who understands a darker side of people and doesn’t think of them differently for it, if only because she’s been looked at as someone who was different and weird her entire life. This is something that has made her more accepting of people, regardless of their background or ability. She wants the world to be a better place and she wants everyone to be able to have opportunities that they might not otherwise have. This is something that she feels much more keenly when it comes to people who have been taken before their time and she uses her reanimation as a way to “give them another chance”. A part of her mind understands that that isn’t really what’s happening, but unfortunately that’s not the part that usually wins out.
Lily knows that she is different from other people, but that doesn’t stop her from embracing her “uniqueness”. She has had plenty of time to learn how to be herself and, despite how run-down she often feels because of the medication she has to take at Monroeville, she tries very hard not to let her shine be dulled by anyone or anything. That being said, she is an emotional person and tends to feel things so keenly that she’s almost in physical pain over it. While likely not on par with an empath, she likes to imagine that she understands what those with that ability would actually go through.
the history
father ♦ Andrew Taylor, 48, Lawyer mother ♦ Marianne Taylor [nee West], 44 siblings ♦ Michael Taylor, 21, Bartender + Law Student important people ♦ N/A hometown ♦ Milwaukee, Wisconsin
overall history ♦ Born the second child to Andrew and Marianne, Lilith already had quite a bit of living up to her brother to do. Michael had been everything that her parents had wanted in a child; he was beautiful, healthy, and his personality was one that practically drew people to him. From a young age Lily understand that her family was different from a lot of the others that they interacted with. They were considered to be special, gifted with abilities that most people either didn’t know about or didn’t dare to try to understand. These abilities were considered to be similar to witchcraft, shunned and exiled for being different and dangerous. It was something that Andrew and Marianne were determined to do their best to shelter their children from.
When Michael was nearly eleven years old, he began to display his first signs of an ability. It was something that the Taylor parents had been dreading coming to light, but they knew that it would be impossible to hide such a thing for very long. An ability left unchecked and without the proper education on how to handle it was something that could cause a great deal of damage to not only a reputation, but to the actual lives of people. Knowing that their son was going to need more help than what they could provide, the family of four made the decision to relocate to New Orleans, where after a bonus of financial support, Michael was enrolled into Primrose Academy.
The relocation had been enough to seemingly shake the abilities that Lilith possessed into life. She had stumbled across a bird that had been hit by a car. It was clear that the animal was dead, but her grief and empathy for the animal had seemingly brought it back to life. Except it wasn’t actually alive. It was still very much dead - or rather undead. Lilith, only nine years old at the time, didn’t fully understand this. She knew the difference between dead and alive, but to her she had brought something back from the other side. Excited to show her parents, Lily scooped up the little bird and ran into the house. Her parents were horrified at what they saw - the creature was no longer undead anymore, but had certainly passed. Lily insisted that she had brought the animal back to life, but her parents didn’t believe her.
It wouldn’t be until nearly two years later when their family cat died of old age that they would see the truth. Her parents had found the feline deceased and broke the news to Lily. Distraught, she swore that she could bring the animal back and, after nearly five minutes, the cat was moving again. The clouded eyes said the animal wasn’t actually alive, but it made Andrew and Marianne very much aware of their daughter’s abilities. It was terrifying, but they wanted to support her. They sought out someone who might have been able to help her, someone who would be able to teach her how to control her abilities instead of having them rely so heavily on her emotions. What they had found was someone who was practiced in Voodoo. They were hesitant, but their daughter needed help.
During her tutelage with the Voodoo Priestess, Lilith’s power grew. While she was learning to control it, she was also learning how to get the most out of it. She was requested to push her limits, to see the amount of things that she could raise from the dead. And a cemetery smack dab in New Orleans was the perfect grounds for such a thing. Lily didn’t realize it at the time, but she was being used for the means of another and, when it turned out that she was able to deliver what was needed, her new tutors saw fit to take further advantage and push those limits further than what anyone could have ever imagined. Lilith was charged to do whatever it took to raise someone that had been dead for nearly one hundred years, an ancestor of the woman who was teaching her. It took hours, but the young teenager was successful to a point - the skeleton rose and promptly collapsed into a pile of bones when Lilith herself fainted from the exertion.
Feeling betrayed and desperate for revenge, the Priestess told Lily’s parents that she was unable to harness her abilities and believed the young woman to be a danger to herself and others. Heartbroken, and feeling as though they had no choice, the Taylors admitted their daughter to Monroeville Hospital. They felt that it was the only way to ensure that she would be safe in spite of the danger that her ability seemed to pose. Now, having been at Monroeville for nearly a year, Lilith hasn’t been able to use her ability in the way that she would have liked, but when she is able to, she is not blind to the strange looks that people give her.
