Things with Malcolm were going a lot better than Cam had ever imagined they would. They'd been spending a little time together here and there and Cameron still felt a bit awkward about the whole thing but his resentment toward his brother was certainly diminishing. He could tell that Malcolm was trying to be a good brother and... well... he was succeeding. It didn't undo that he'd left but it was.... something. It was a lot.
And so Cam had been thinking about inviting Malcolm to come see Phalanx. He wanted Malcolm to see where he'd made a home for himself-- where he'd found support. He wanted him to see the grounds and the bookshelves and he wasn't even sure why it mattered so much to him but it did.
He intentionally picked a time that he wasn't expecting Jaxon to be around, not feeling particularly ready to start introducing people to Malcolm just yet. He asked Malcolm to meet him around the corner from Phalanx, wanting to start by showing him around outside and hopefully making his way to his room... which... sort of put a pit in his stomach to think about for reasons he did not understand. It just felt too personal, but they were brothers. It was okay.
Starting outside was a good idea.
Cam waited anxiously, his fingers pulling at the bottom of his shirt as he waited on a bench for his brother's arrival. When he heard him approaching, he looked up.
"Hey," he greeted flatly, standing up. "Ready to see it? I mean, you've probably already seen it in passing? But... there's a lot to it."
Malcolm closed out his computer, paperwork was finished for his shift and he had to get out of the station before someone came in with some double homicide or something else that would keep him in work all night. Malcolm waved bye to Aurora on his way out. He finally got an invite to see where Cam lived and he was a little nervous about it. He didn't want to do anything to mess things up. But this was going to be great. He was going to be able to spend time with his brother, get to know the people he lived with around Phalanx. Get to see his life, and be part of it.
Walking down the streets, he was amazed how familiar it became when he moved back from Baton Rouge. All of the streets that he would run around with his friends, or places he would explore with his little brother. It all came back and he loved it. Walking up to Phalanx House, he smiled when he saw his little brother outside waiting for him.
There was probably so many people inside that house that meant the world to Cam and he was excited to get to know all of them. He wanted to see the faces behind the names that Cam tossed around casually, he wanted to get to know his brother's new family. "Hey Cameron." he said with a grin, walking up to the house.
"I'm yours for the rest of the night, so I'm ready to meet everyone and see everything." He knew that that kid Jaxon was around somewhere and was the one who Cam got arrested with on his birthday, but there was always Astor Perona who took in Cameron when he was all alone.

Hey Cameron. "You're the only one who still calls me that," he pointed out-- not in disapproval but just as a matter-of-fact.
He scoffed. The thought of Malcolm meeting everyone made him want to vomit. "You wanna act a little less like a kid on Christmas?" he asked in good nature. It was awkward-- why did it matter to him so much? It mattered to Cam, but he didn't get why it mattered to Malcolm. "You're freaking me out a little." Was he expecting like this perfect place? What if he was disappointed?
It was too late now. They were doing it.
Shall we? He nodded, rubbing the back of his neck and walking in. "So...yea," he offered. "It's big," he said, gesturing before moving down a hall. "This is the living room," he pointed out as he walked by, going straight into the library. "I... spend a lot of time in here. It's where I met Ais. This is the best section here... they have like every Philip K. Dick book ever written." Which... to disgustingly nerdy sci-fi fans like Cam... was paradise. "And it gets kind of loud here sometimes but this room is usually pretty quiet." So he liked that too-- he'd never been a fan of chaotic crowds.
"And the kitchen is this way," he said, bringing Malcolm out of the library. "Usually Sirius or Carver is in there but a lot of people are out today. I think a lot of the kids have jobs nearby and the rest of them are out for the weather. It's nice... I'm so sick of the heat."
