Erich Daniel Lehmann
the basics
full name ♦ Erich Daniel Lehmann nicknames ♦ N/A age ♦ Forty-two birthday ♦ August 24 1977 occupation ♦ German teacher at Primrose Academy school ♦ Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) Munich species ♦ Human ability/power ♦ Ferrokinesis (metal manipulation) how the ability works ♦ Erich is able to, like Magneto of Marvel fame, bend, shape, and manipulate metal. As long as the object has some metallic elements (not just a metallic surface) - except gold as it is not magnetic, he can fuse it, melt it, press it into a new shape, and even into a thin and weight-bearing wire. He does have his fun with it, using his spoon with it to stir his morning coffee and to shape static toys for children or trinkets for girls and ladies, but he hasn't found a more permanent use for it yet. He will, in times of great danger, wear thin plates of metal under his clothing for an added layer of protection, hence his habit of carrying around a case containing metal stress balls as well as the metal puzzle cubes.
Currently, he has found that he's unable to create metal, making him limited to manipulating only from already existing sources, not including those in his blood or body makeup. Although he has decades of experience, he is still unable to use anything more than a few feet from him (so far it's up to five feet) or more than around 140 pounds. His metal is affected by everything that normal metals would be, although he is perfectly able to use his power to return the metal to its original shape or controlling it, unless in these circumstances: melting it under extreme heat (with Pyrokinetics or Geo-thermokinetics); if it turns brittle and shatters under extreme cold (Cryokinetics); or if it can be rusted (Aqua- or hydro-kinetics). He and his creations are also extremely vulnerable to Electrokinetics as the metals he uses conduct electricity very well.
gender ♦ Male (He/His) sexuality ♦ Hetero
the appearance
face claim ♦ Tom Wlaschiha height and weight ♦ 6', 165 identifying features ♦ Aside from decades old scars on his hands and arms from helping his father and brother with projects concerning metals and vehicles, there's really no markings to speak of. His steel grey eyes and German accent are really the most prominent things about him, seeing as he's now living in the US instead of his home country.
overall appearance ♦ Standing at six feet even, Erich has short, sandy blondish-brown hair, clear steel grey eyes, and plump lips that are usually in a bright smile or semi-smirk. He normally wears contacts, but between new prescriptions, he has two pairs of glasses he can wear - one is round-shaped gold colored wire frames, and the others are squareish-shaped darker colored plastic frames. Outside of work, he prefers jeans, tshirts or short sleeved button ups, leather jackets and either sneakers or his motorcycle boots. While at work, however, he tends to wear more professional looking attire, consisting of slacks, ties, herringbone-patterned blazers, and turtlenecked sweaters.
the personality
likes ♦ ► Coffee, with three creams and two sugars. If its around fall, he'll swap that out for a gunline coffee recipe he's perfected over the years that has a more nutty, warmer taste. ► Sleep, which he feels he gets little of, but he tries to sneak in naps where he can. As you would guess, his favorite room in his house is the bedroom. ► Horror movies, especially around October, but not a must. Second favorite genre would be comedies or action. ► Having a smoke to start his day off. He limits his smoking to three or four cigarettes a day, depending on his stress level, though.
dislikes ♦ ► Weak or bitter coffee. Nothing more really needs to be said. ► Ditzy women.. or people in general, really. Stupidity isn't attractive. Neither is greed - not that he has anything to siphon. ► Stereotyping. Just because he's from Germany doesn't mean he doesn't like small talk, has no sense of humor, or is a Nazi. ► Being woken up early on his day off. He won't be terribly happy with the person who did the waking, nor would he be inclined to agree to whatever it is they woke him up for.
strengths ♦ ► Knowledge of four languages. Few speak what he does anymore - German, Latin, Russian, and Italian - but it's a skill he has, nonetheless. ► Past knowledge. His dad passed his ability on to him and taught him the basics, which he expanded on over the years.
weaknesses ♦ ► His brother. He doesn't speak to Jan often, but he still loves him. If he needed him, he would drop everything. ► Lack of knowledge of life in the US. He's been here six years, but still isn't very well versed in common knowledge of the US, so he can be easily confused or made fun of.
dreams ♦ ► Make a life in the US. Wife, kids, the whole nine.
fears ♦ ► Like anyone, he fears death.. but what he would hate more is dying and his brother not finding out.
overall personality ♦ Erich is pretty low key and casual "for a German" as some would say. It's actually fairly easy to get him to smile and laugh, which on his face, reflects as a boyish look despite his age. The only time he really looks his age is when he's at work - wearing clothes that are more professional and glasses when he doesn't have his contacts - or hasn't taken the time to shave in the last few days. His voice is light and kind, but with a thick German accent. When he's in a good mood, he can be found secretly using his abilities to make toys for kids, trinkets for women and girls, or really anything else. As one may imagine, his house has a plethora of little metal knick-knacks from statuettes to candleholders to bookends; things he's made to exercise his skill.
When he's in a bad mood or angry, though, his native language spews forth like an undammed river, making it difficult to understand why he's angry or upset and what can be done, if anything to fix it. His normally soft grey eyes turn as cold as the steel he bends, and unfortunately, his anger tends to spill over into his conversations with others, even if he doesn't mean for it to. His abilities also surface without warning when he's angry, making spoons or anything else he's laying his hands on suffer.
When he finds the spare time, he likes to read with a cup of hot tea with honey, or just relax on the couch in front of the television. Most nights, if it's been a workday, he'll end up falling asleep in front of the TV. Strangely, this is not a guy you'd find staring at his cell phone at all hours of the day unless he's checking up on things back in Germany with his brother or in general.
the history
father ♦ Bartolomaus, 76 (deceased), former metalworker mother ♦ Anne-Marie, 62 (deceased), former schoolteacher siblings ♦ Jan, 32, younger brother, mechanic important people ♦ N/A hometown ♦ Munich, Bavaria, Germany overall history ♦ Erich was the firstborn of "Barty" and Anne-Marie Lehmann of Munich, with Jan, his brother, becoming the youngest around ten years later. Erich had always been interested in the medical field, and since Germany had a constant need for those in that line of work, he set his sights on this in his schoolwork. Since Germany was so geologically close to Russia, it was taught in the schools as a second language and from there, he also picked up Italian and Latin.
A few months after his seventeenth birthday, as he helped his father with a project, the metal they were working with bent seemingly of its own free will. Paying it no mind, they continued to work and completed the project, but Barty knew what had gone on. He took Erich aside one day and showed him why he had chosen the profession he had - he, like Erich now could, could manipulate metal and bend it to his will. He had gotten the ability around the same age, and knew that the line of work his son had chosen would not work out. With the various metals used in medical equipment, his co-workers and bosses would become suspicious after awhile as his father's had, which is why his father had started his own metalworking business.
Taking heed of his father's warning, he made a change in his career path to follow his mother's choice of being a teacher. Of course in Germany, he would teach English and Russian, but he knew Latin and Italian almost as well as a native. After graduating the LMU Munich, he went on to find work in local high schools to get experience behind him for better opportunities. Only eight years ago, two years before he decided to move to the US, his parents passed within six months of each other after having been married since they were in their late teens.
Doing his due diligence, he sought out teaching positions where his knowledge of languages would be of some use, and found the Primrose Academy in New Orleans. Converting roughly half of his savings into USD, he made the move and hasn't looked back since.
